About The Position

Matrix Construction Services is an Employee-Owned General Contractor with a Plumbing Service Division, specializing in interior and exterior repairs and renovations for multi-housing redevelopment. The General Construction Superintendent works directly with the site team, supervising all facets of assigned capital general construction projects. This includes project management, execution, client communication, project closeouts, on-site staff management, and implementation of company policies and safety procedures. The role oversees project activities within assigned geographic service locations and requires availability for potential evening and weekend work. The Superintendent is proficient in reading and troubleshooting various construction plans (Architectural, Structural, Civil Engineering, Landscaping, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Sprinkler) and building project schedules for multi-family, residential, commercial, and land development work. Key responsibilities include managing projects to ensure deliverable completion, performing risk assessments, monitoring trade partner planning and execution, identifying and resolving project delays, managing permit and code requirements, and coordinating contracts for subcontract labor and suppliers. The role also involves monitoring construction schedules, reviewing budgets and subcontracts, ensuring quality assurance, managing subcontractor performance, collecting project documentation, and ensuring adherence to company systems and policies. Effective communication with project staff, clients, and supervisors is essential, as is maintaining accurate daily reports and time-tracking logs. The Superintendent serves as a client point of contact, resolves disputes, and maintains client satisfaction. Participation in bid walks and pre-construction meetings is also required.

Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Exceptional organization.
  • Multi-family experience/Apartment construction.
  • Familiar with Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Smartsheet software.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Reliable Transportation.
  • Maintains all tools to safely perform the required scope of work.
  • Maintains company provided vehicle in clean condition, coordinates all preventative maintenance and repairs, and reports any maintenance or wear concerns.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external partners, including residents of apartment dwellings.
  • General trade level skill set relative to assigned scope.
  • Proficiency with a computer and/or tablet device.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Understanding of conversational Spanish is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising all facets of assigned capital general construction projects.

  • Performing risk assessment and analysis of all aspects of assigned projects.
  • Reviewing and monitoring internal and trade partner planning, pricing, scheduling, and coordination.
  • Identifying and communicating project delays and appropriate solutions.
  • Managing and meeting permit and code requirements for each project.
  • Participating in sourcing, qualifying, and coordinating contracts for subcontract labor and suppliers.
  • Monitoring construction schedules and reacting accordingly to maintain completion schedules.
  • Reviewing and following budgets and subcontracts on assigned projects.
  • Performing quality assurance inspections and holding trade partners accountable for high-quality standards.
  • Managing projects to verify subcontractor quality control, work performance, and schedule compliance.
  • Collecting all subcontract purchase orders, schedule of values, and change orders.
  • Ensuring the proper execution of company systems, policies, and procedures (RFIs, Budgets, Estimates, Safety Program, Submittals, Schedules, Warranty Issues, Project Permitting, Forecasts, Buy Out, Subcontractor Agreements, Due Diligence).
  • Providing clear and professional communications to project staff, clients, and supervisors.
  • Ensuring that all field-level daily reports and accurate time-tracking logs are per company policy.
  • Assisting the Construction Administration Team with subcontractor documents including pre-qualification.
  • Ensuring quality control meets company and client expectations.
  • Serving as a “point of contact” with clients on project-related issues.
  • Resolving disputes and conflicts related to projects and Clients.
  • Maintaining regular contact with all project Clients and striving to keep Client satisfaction at high levels.
  • Keeping extensive and independent contact with vendor’s representatives and project field personnel.
  • Participating in bid walks, pre-construction meetings, and other meetings as required.
  • Evaluating all general construction employees and subcontractors in all scope-related work and punch items.
  • Performing other duties as necessary or assigned.
