About The Position

This role is generally responsible for performing construction coordination for small to moderate construction assignments, working under general supervision. The primary responsibilities include applying company standards, ensuring extensive knowledge of construction safety requirements with a commitment to a zero accidents environment, and ensuring contractor activities are planned and executed safely and efficiently. The specialist will work closely with contractors to plan and coordinate daily field and construction tasks and logistical activities, serving as the first line coordinator for all contractor activities. This position involves monitoring contractor performance against contract milestones and completion dates, identifying conflicts or potential delays, and developing work-around plans in concert with other construction coordinators.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 5+ years of relevant industrial construction coordination and administration experience.
  • Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction processes.
  • Ability to manage client relationships in complex situations.
  • Ability to relate easily to others in the business community such as customers, suppliers, contractors, government, professional and trade associations.
  • Ability to handle stress with poise.
  • Understanding of existing and potential customer needs and preferences.
  • Ability to clearly communicate expectations and requirements to team members.
  • Ability to set priorities.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to perform work outdoors in hot or cold climates.
  • Ability to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment such as a fire-retardant jumpsuit, safety glasses, ear plugs and hard hat.
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field from an accredited university is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge and application of company standards.
  • Ensure contractor’s activities are planned and executed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Work closely with the construction contractor to plan and coordinate daily field and construction tasks and logistical activities.
  • Serve as the “first line” coordinator for all contractor activities.
  • Monitor contractor performance against contract milestones and completion dates as well as performance as it relates to the other activities on-site to identify conflicts or potential delays.
  • Develop work-around plans to mitigate conflicts or delays in concert with other construction coordinators.
