Join RQC, LLC as a Construction Site Safety Officer (SSHO) supporting military construction projects in the Saint Mary's, Georgia area as part of our Southeast U.S. operations team. The Site Safety Officer (SSHO) is responsible for managing all aspects of jobsite safety for assigned projects. This includes developing, coordinating, and enforcing safety plans and procedures in compliance with contract requirements, EM-385 standards, OSHA regulations, RQC's internal Safety Management System, and the project-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP). The SSHO works closely with the project team to ensure safe, efficient execution of work and may supervise daily activities of safety staff or other assigned personnel. This is a fully on-site position. While local candidates are preferred, travel or relocation may be necessary depending on project needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction, including at least 5 years in a construction safety role at the jobsite level.
  • Competent person training or demonstrated experience in areas such as fall protection, confined space, electrical safety, trenching/excavation, PPE, and scaffolding required (related degrees or certifications may be considered in place of this training).
  • Documented safety training history averaging at least 24 hours annually over the past 5 consecutive years.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications required.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30-hour certifications (completed within the last 5 years) required.

Nice To Haves

  • Combination of relevant field experience, formal safety training, and/or certifications from OSHA Training Institutes or other recognized safety organizations.
  • Professional certifications such as CHST, OHST, or ASP (through BCSP) are highly regarded.
  • Experience working with NAVFAC or USACE and familiarity with EM 385-1-1 guidelines preferred.
  • Experience with construction software such as Viewpoint or RMS/QCS is a plus.
