About The Position

Compliance Management International (CMI) is hiring an experienced Construction Safety Specialist for a construction project in Ridgefield, NJ, starting mid-October 2026. We’re looking for a hands-on EHS/Safety Professional with 5+ years of construction safety experience and a strong MEP background—either working directly in the mechanical, electrical, or plumbing trades or providing safety oversight for MEP contractors and activities.

Requirements

5+ years of construction safety experience
MEP experience required — either hands-on trade experience or direct safety oversight of mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing work
Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926 construction standards
Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction
Current First Aid/CPR/AED
Strong hazard recognition, communication, coaching, and field leadership skills
Ability to work overtime and Saturdays as project needs require
Reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

CHST, STS-C, ASP, CSP, OSHA 500, NFPA 70E, or a safety/EHS-related degree

Responsibilities

Provide daily construction safety / EHS oversight for contractors and subcontractors
Conduct jobsite inspections, safety audits, hazard assessments, and observations
Review JHAs/JSAs, Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), permits, toolbox talks, and safety documentation
Coach contractors and trades on OSHA compliance and safe work practices
Oversee MEP, electrical safety, NFPA 70E, LOTO, fall protection, scaffolding, confined space, hot work, excavation, cranes, rigging, and material handling
Investigate incidents, injuries, and near misses and drive corrective actions
Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926, client requirements, and site-specific safety programs
