About The Position

Join a growing General Contractor supporting a diverse portfolio of construction projects throughout Ohio. This opportunity provides hands-on safety leadership for projects primarily focused on civil construction, concrete operations, infrastructure improvements, site development, and commercial construction activities. The Construction Safety Specialist will work closely with project teams, field leadership, craft personnel, and subcontractors to promote safe work practices, maintain compliance, and support successful project execution. The role combines field-based safety oversight with training, auditing, incident management, and regulatory compliance responsibilities.

Requirements

  • OSHA 500 Certification OR OSHA 510 Certification Required
  • Minimum 2+ Years of Construction Safety Experience
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards
  • Working knowledge of Civil Construction Safety
  • Working knowledge of Concrete Construction Operations
  • Working knowledge of Excavation & Trenching Safety Requirements
  • Working knowledge of Contractor Safety Management
  • Working knowledge of Safety Auditing & Inspections
  • Working knowledge of Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis
  • Working knowledge of Safety Training & Orientation Programs
  • Working knowledge of Respiratory Protection Programs
  • Working knowledge of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
  • Working knowledge of Construction Risk Assessment & Mitigation
  • Working knowledge of Regulatory Compliance and Documentation
  • Working knowledge of Field Safety Leadership & Employee Engagement

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine jobsite safety audits and corrective action follow-up
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and client safety standards
  • Conduct safety training and assist with project orientations
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses
  • Provide first-response assistance for injured workers when necessary
  • Manage site-specific safety documentation and reporting requirements
  • Participate in morning huddles, toolbox talks, and safety meetings
  • Work closely with field leadership to identify hazards and improve safety performance
  • Support respiratory protection programs, fit testing, and compliance initiatives
  • Maintain required certifications, records, and jobsite approvals
  • Conduct field observations and hazard assessments on active construction projects
  • Promote a proactive safety culture throughout all assigned projects
