About The Position

Join a mechanical and fire protection contractor supporting the construction of a new aircraft hangar in Spartanburg, SC. This role provides hands-on safety leadership for mechanical piping, HVAC, fire protection system installation, material handling, elevated work, and daily construction activities on a large-scale aerospace project. The Construction Safety Manager will partner closely with project leadership, field supervision, and craft personnel to maintain OSHA compliance while promoting a proactive safety culture throughout all phases of construction.

Requirements

  • OSHA 30 Construction Certification
  • Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience
  • Mechanical construction safety experience
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards
  • Working knowledge of Mechanical Construction Safety
  • Working knowledge of HVAC Installation Activities
  • Working knowledge of Fire Protection System Installation
  • Working knowledge of Material Handling & Rigging Operations
  • Working knowledge of Fall Protection & Elevated Work
  • Working knowledge of Aerial Lifts & MEWPs
  • Working knowledge of Hot Work Safety
  • Working knowledge of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) Development
  • Working knowledge of Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis
  • Working knowledge of Contractor Safety Management
  • Working knowledge of Construction Risk Assessment & Mitigation
  • Working knowledge of Safety Inspections, Observations, and Field Coaching
  • Working knowledge of Toolbox Talk Development and Delivery

Nice To Haves

  • Fire protection construction experience
  • Aerospace, aviation, or aircraft hangar construction experience
  • Industrial or manufacturing construction experience
  • Experience supporting large-scale commercial construction projects
  • CHST, ASP, CSP, or other BCSP credential

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily safety activities for mechanical and fire protection construction operations
  • Maintain a visible field presence alongside craft personnel and project supervision
  • Conduct routine site inspections, safety observations, and risk assessments
  • Monitor mechanical piping, HVAC, fire protection, and equipment installation activities
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project safety requirements
  • Provide field coaching and mentorship to supervisors and craft personnel
  • Deliver toolbox talks and support ongoing safety training initiatives
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), permits, and pre-task plans
  • Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation
  • Maintain safety reports, inspections, observations, and compliance documentation
  • Partner with project leadership to proactively identify and mitigate hazards
  • Promote a positive safety culture across the project
