About The Position

HazTek Safety Management is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to provide field safety oversight for a large-scale heavy civil and site development project in Buffalo, NY. The project involves shoreline improvements, piling, fencing, athletic fields, and extensive site renovation. This role requires a proactive safety professional who can independently manage daily safety responsibilities, communicate effectively with field teams, and partner with project superintendents to ensure work is planned and performed safely. Requirements

  • Demonstrated construction safety experience, preferably supporting heavy civil, site work, or similarly complex projects.
  • Ability to independently manage day-to-day jobsite safety responsibilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and applicable hazard controls.
  • Experience reviewing pre-task plans and maintaining construction safety documentation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach workers and collaborate with project leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing field conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily safety oversight across heavy civil and site construction activities.
  • Review pre-task plans and verify that crews understand work hazards and required safety controls.
  • Monitor and review project EHS documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with site requirements.
  • Conduct field inspections, identify unsafe conditions, and follow through on corrective actions.
  • Coach and mentor workers and subcontractors on safe work practices and hazard recognition.
  • Work closely with project superintendents to coordinate safety expectations across ongoing activities.
  • Evaluate upcoming work and help teams establish appropriate controls before work begins.
  • Communicate safety concerns clearly and address issues promptly with field leadership.
  • Support incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain a visible field presence and promote accountability throughout the jobsite.
