About The Position

Dominion Energy is hiring one Construction Risk Engineer at a level commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The role is a specialty engineering position within the Corporate Risk Engineering team, focused on developing and implementing a construction risk engineering program to mitigate losses across company construction projects. These projects include renewable generation, large thermal generation, high-voltage transmission and substations, and off-site storage exposures. The work covers industrial and high-hazard occupancies, including battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar, petrochemical/LNG, and power generation, as well as traditional storage and commercial occupancies. The engineer will scope and conduct construction risk engineering surveys to assess compliance with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and internal risk engineering standards. They will develop an internal reporting template covering background information, risk assessments, and recommendations, then use it to document site visits. They will work with development, construction, and operations teams to mitigate identified risks and track recommendations through closure. The engineer will also represent the company during external construction risk engineering visits required or requested by its insurers. The engineer will serve as a construction risk subject matter expert embedded with project teams, particularly on complex projects such as new generating, petrochemical/LNG, or renewable energy facilities. The role requires building relationships with technical, craft, project management, and leadership personnel, and providing expertise that is critical to major project execution and may affect asset viability, constructability, and operability. Other duties may be requested or assigned. The position follows a hybrid schedule of three days in the office and two days teleworking. Relocation assistance and work visa or employment authorization sponsorship are not available.
