About The Position

Shimmick is seeking a Project Manager in Palmdale, California to support the Palmdale Water Reclamation Plant Influent Pump Station Modification project. This project for the Los Angeles County Sanitation District (LACSD) includes upgrades to influent pumping and electrical systems, construction of a new utility building, and associated civil improvements. The work will enhance operational reliability, improve system performance, and support long-term water reclamation operations serving the surrounding region. As a Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing all phases of construction, ensuring safety, compliance, and timely delivery while coordinating with multiple stakeholders including clients, subcontractors, engineers, and field crews. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field and 6+ years of relevant expereince or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Previous construction experience related to managing heavy civil or electrical projects in excess of $10 million.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and risk mitigation.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years' experience involving heavy civil or electrical construction projects.
  • Water and wastewater treatment plant construction project experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Primavera P6.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leaders.
  • Work independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skill.
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands in deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Managing project implementation including schedule, budgets, quality and safety.
  • Resource planning and management - including managing company resources assigned to the project as well as third party vendors, designers, fabricators and contractors.
  • Direct the efforts of the full engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction management, and commissioning team in creating the execution plans, organization, and contracts needed to deliver the project within the stated cost and schedule.
  • Continue to build a positive relationship with highly important & strategic clients who have significant future work in the area.
  • Preparing and issuing Progress Reports and ensuring timely payments.
  • Monitoring compliance with various regulatory statues as well as compliance with applicable Shimmick policies and procedures.
  • Project stakeholder management and interface.
  • Creation and implementation of Project Updates – Job Status Reports and Quarterly EAC Reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
