About The Position

The University of North Texas System is seeking a Construction Project Manager to join their HSC-Campus Operations department. This role is responsible for coordinating schedules and specifications for building construction and equipment sourcing, collecting cost data to monitor project budget estimates, and obtaining, evaluating, coordinating, and distributing information and authorizations necessary to complete projects on time, within budget, and to the specified quality. The Project Manager will protect and promote the University.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in related field and five (5) years of related experience in the construction industry; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Experience managing medium to large construction projects.
Experience working in construction for a public education institution and/or commercial setting.
Knowledge of building codes, construction documents and construction safety standards.
Proficiency in specific software may be required.
Knowledge of appropriate safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

Responsibilities

Prepares budget estimates / ROMs
Oversee that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals and procedures.
Oversee that the project is constructed and documented in accordance with the contract documents and good engineering practices.
Ensure inspections are performed and documented.
Provide technical support and be responsible for developing and maintaining project cost/change controls, project budget, and accounting records.
Coordinate and monitor schedule updates, invoices, and submittments.
Assist in managing and reviewing the progress of contractors' construction schedules.
Review weekly and monthly reports on the status and progress of the contracts, including project costs and potential changes.
Meet regularly with all of the parties involved, including the contractors and client, to provide status updates and answer questions.
Review the completeness of construction documents and specifications - missing details or unmarked assumptions that can lead to scope gaps and change orders.
Provides on-the-job training and guidance to new team members.
Serves as a team lead by coordinating workflow, sharing expertise, and mentoring junior staff, while not holding formal supervisory responsibilities.
