The Capital Projects Management Department at Boston College is responsible for the engineering, planning, documentation, and construction management of the college's Capital Improvement Plan. This plan is divided into an Annual Capital Plan and a Major Construction Plan, encompassing up to 150 ongoing projects annually. The Construction Project Manager (CPM) will report to the Associate Director, Annual Capital Projects, and will oversee capital construction projects supporting the Annual Capital Plan through all stages: planning, design, and construction. This role involves implementing best practices for project delivery, including managing scope, schedule, estimating, budget development, risk management, procurement, contract administration, and cost control. The CPM will collaborate with consultants and Boston College stakeholders, including Facilities Management, to produce design and construction documents. Effective communication with BC Departments and project stakeholders is crucial, utilizing management software like PMWeb for reporting on project schedules, progress, and budget control. The position demands extensive knowledge of construction and project management practices, a strong understanding of building systems (envelope, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm), finishes, and site utilities. Strict adherence to University budgets and schedules is necessary due to the annual budget cycle and academic calendar. The role requires the ability to organize and manage diverse teams, including internal staff, external contractors, and design consultants, and proven experience managing multiple projects with demanding schedules.
