About The Position

The Construction Project Manager is responsible for overseeing residential and community focused housing developmental projects led by the Kalamazoo County Land Bank Authority (KCLBA). This role helps transform vacant properties into safe housing that supports neighborhoods and long-term community growth. The Construction Project Manager serves as a liaison between contractors, staff, leadership and external partners while maintaining a professional and collaborative work enjoinment that supports housing and developmental goals. The ideal candidate is organized and detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple construction projects.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience in construction management with a focus on residential housing or community development projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects from planning through completion.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to work among technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of grant funded projects and compliance requirements.
  • Strategic thinker with strong execution capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and manage all phases of construction and housing rehabilitation projects, including site assessments, budgeting, scheduling and contracts.
  • Oversee contractors, subcontractors and vendors for both new construction and residential rehabilitation to ensure quality workmanship, adherence to building codes and compliance with safety standards.
  • Solicit bids, evaluate proposals and recommend contractor selection based on qualifications, cost and capacity.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, ensure compliance and resolve any construction related issues.
  • Prepare reports on construction progress, budgets and housing outcomes for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership to project teams and foster a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement.
  • Support strategic planning efforts related to housing development, revitalization programs and neighborhood stabilization.
  • Ensure all activities comply with local, state, and federal housing regulations including environmental and zoning requirements.
  • Manage grant applications, tracking project completion phases, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting compliance.
  • Manage special projects as needed.
