About The Position

The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Public Work’s Department is looking for a skilled and organized Construction Project Manager to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have AutoCAD experience, the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and possess creative problem-solving skills. This role offers opportunities for career advancement within the SMSC. The Construction Project Manager will assume responsibility for overall project performance, including costs, schedule, quality, and project status. This involves coordinating with multiple SMSC departments, engineers, and contractors to ensure timely, safe, and efficient project delivery. Responsibilities include assisting with the development of construction plans, specifications, and permit submittals, as well as developing preliminary project estimates and contributing to the Capital Improvement Plan. The role also requires providing performance status reports on cost forecasts, schedules, and safety.

Requirements

Degree in construction management, construction or civil engineering, or related field.
4 years of proven experience in project management from project development to project close-out.
Proficiency and or experience with construction and design software such as AutoCAD (preferred).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Familiar with project management software programs such as Microsoft Project (preferred).
Knowledge of relevant construction law and building codes.
Ability to understand and employ engineering/construction plans/specifications, methods, and procedures.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Valid Class D driver’s license may be required with a good driving record.
Ability to work in a wide range of climate temperatures, including excessive heat and/or subzero temperatures.
Has the physical abilities to perform the required job duties with or without accommodations, including on feet 25% of time.
Capacity to handle and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.

Responsibilities

Provide administrative direction and oversight for Public Works construction and maintenance projects prior to and during project timeline.
Coordinates and manages internal and external resources through the completion of assigned projects.
Assist with development of construction plans, specifications and permit submittals.
Develop preliminary project estimates and assist with Capital Improvement Plan development for numerous departments.
Provide/develop project performance status reports regarding cost forecasts, schedule and safety for projects.
Maintains oversight of project budget, tracks budget adjustments, processes invoices.
