Requirements

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures.

  • Proficiency with computers and standard software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and project management tools, as well as PLC platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider), SCADA and HMI systems, and Building Automation Systems (Johnson Controls, Siemens, Trane, Honeywell).
  • Knowledge of control system installation standards and commissioning processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, control panel drawings, network diagrams, and sequences of operation.

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Automation, Electrical Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with industrial controls, automation systems, commissioning, or quality assurance.
  • Experience with PLC, DCS, SCADA, BAS, or industrial automation systems.
  • Valid driver’s license required with no significant motor vehicle report (MVR) violations.
  • Employees who incur $2,000 or more annually in company-related travel expenses are required to obtain a Corporate Credit Card; those below this threshold must maintain sufficient personal credit to cover business travel expenses.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site project lead, present daily throughout construction.
  • Manage all field activities including demolition, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls.
  • Maintain constant field visibility, walking the site, resolving conflicts, and enforcing schedule, scope and standards.
  • Act as the primary liaison between owner, EPC/GC, subcontractors, and plant operations.
  • Champion a zero-incident safety culture in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Enforce OSHA, EPA, and site-specific safety and environmental requirements.
  • Review and approve site-specific safety plans, JSAs, lift plans, confined space procedures, and LOTO protocols.
  • Lead daily toolbox talks, safety walks, and incident investigations.
  • Manage the integrated construction schedule, coordinating look-ahead planning and milestone tracking.
  • Identify schedule risks early and implement recovery strategies.
  • Review contractor progress, pay applications, and change orders.
  • Support cost control through field-driven value engineering and productivity optimization.
  • Ensure all work meets engineering drawings, specifications, OEM requirements, and industry codes.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, and quality documentation.
  • Oversee punch list development, corrective actions, and closeout.
  • Manage daily coordination with general contractors, specialty trades, and OEM installers.
  • Hold contractors accountable to scope, manpower plans, productivity targets, and safety standards.
  • Facilitate issue resolution between overlapping scopes and phased work packages.
  • Oversee complex demolition sequencing adjacent to existing structures and live systems.
  • Manage retrofit challenges including: Tie-ins to existing utilities and process systems Structural modifications Equipment removal and replacement Limited access and congestion
  • Coordinate shutdowns, outages, and commissioning windows with operations.
  • Provide daily and weekly field reports covering safety, schedule, manpower, constraints, and risks.
  • Lead on-site coordination meetings and construction progress reviews.
  • Escalate critical issues with clear options and recommendations.
  • Support mechanical completion, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Ensure proper documentation, as-builts, and turnover packages.
  • Coordinate final inspections, training, and handover to operations.
  • Indirectly supervises employees onsite. Carries out indirect supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work.
