About The Position

The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is seeking qualified individuals for the role of Construction Project Manager within the Capital Improvement Division. This position involves performing the full range of construction planning, construction project management, and construction-related contract administration for various city capital projects, including water/wastewater improvements, roadway improvements, parks and recreation, buildings/facilities, and housing. The role includes performing site visits and supervising/managing field inspections of projects under construction to identify areas needing attention. The Capital Improvements Division is an APWA Accredited agency and ADOT Certified for administering state and federally grant-funded transportation projects, managing the design and construction of the City's capital infrastructure.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering field, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Park Administration or a related field.
  • 4 years of experience in construction management or architectural, mechanical, and electrical engineering design.
  • A valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment driving record check.
  • Ability to pass fingerprinting with successful results.
  • Compliance with the City of Chandler’s Drug Free Workplace Policy, including no use of recreational marijuana.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of standard construction documentation, including contract documents, critical path schedules, RFIs, submittals, pay applications and schedule of values, change orders, and documentation configuration management flow and controls.
  • Aptitude to prepare and present construction status/progress to varying groups, IE; Stakeholders, Clients, management, colleagues, etc.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of project management software, estimating, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the full range of construction planning, construction project management, and construction-related contract administration for various city capital projects as assigned.
  • Manage and coordinate the orderly design and construction of the City's capital infrastructure in the Capital Improvement Program.
  • Oversee procurement of professional services, design, construction, and construction management for transportation, utilities, public buildings, community services, and other general government improvements.
  • Perform site visits and supervise/manage field inspections of projects under construction.
  • Identify areas in need of attention on construction projects.
  • Ascertain and disseminate the constructability and buildability of a project, including problem-solving costs and risks in design.
  • Prepare and present construction status/progress reports to various groups, including stakeholders, clients, management, and colleagues.
