Requirements

  • University degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of related project management, construction supervision, or field leadership experience.
  • Prior experience managing medium‑complexity projects within the Security, low‑voltage, life safety, or related construction environment.
  • Strong coordination skills with the ability to supervise multiple on‑site activities simultaneously.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to deploy for extended periods (typically 6 to 18 months) and travel up to 100% based on project assignment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Writer, Visio, and Windows‑based applications.
  • Experience supporting or leading project scopes of $1M or greater.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain required State Certifications for Security Alarm Systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree with 5–7 years of direct project coordination and supervisory experience in Commercial and/or Industrial Building Construction or 8 years of direct field experience in the Security or fire alarm life safety industry.
  • Prior experience working on Major Projects or long‑term site deployments.
  • Familiarity with Johnson Controls project controls, safety standards, and QA/QC processes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on‑site project manager for assigned Security projects, planning, executing, and completing projects in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Major Projects team and assigned Project Manager to align project objectives with scope, budget, schedule, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate daily communication with the Project Manager, customer, subcontractors, and other site contractors.
  • Perform daily site inspections to ensure quality, safety compliance, project integrity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure execution of work aligns with Johnson Controls standards, policies, and contractual obligations.
  • Submit regular progress updates and field reports for integration into the master project schedule, including variance analysis.
  • Address site conflicts related to work sequencing, labor coordination, and unforeseen conditions.
  • Support risk management activities and assist the Project Manager in developing and implementing recovery plans when required.
  • Ensure project documentation and controls comply with contract requirements and Johnson Controls policies.
  • Communicate expectations clearly to subcontractors and ensure adequate staffing levels to maintain project schedules.
  • May serve as the on‑site safety program coordinator and/or QA/QC lead.
  • Participate in project meetings, including scheduling, coordination, commissioning, and closeout activities.
  • Coordinate with Regional and Branch Leadership through the assigned Major Projects Project Manager to ensure adequate resources and support.
