About The Position

Hohl Industrial Services is seeking a skilled Construction Project Estimator to support our growing Construction team. This role is critical to driving business success by developing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive bid proposals for industrial construction projects. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with operations, business development, and project management teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial construction estimating
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of construction estimating practices and methodologies
  • Experience with takeoff software, scheduling tools, and cost databases
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project) and estimating software
  • Solid understanding of labor productivity and construction methods
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication skills across all levels of an organization
  • Ability to perform and apply mathematical concepts ranging from basic arithmetic to advanced calculations relevant to estimating

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in water/wastewater or infrastructure projects preferred
  • Equivalent experience may be substituted

Responsibilities

  • Analyze project drawings, specifications, and related documents to prepare detailed cost estimates
  • Develop accurate estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
  • Identify project scope, risks, and opportunities to ensure complete bid coverage
  • Prepare estimates in alignment with company standards and project requirements
  • Partner with operations, project managers, and business development teams during bid development
  • Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
  • Communicate with clients, engineers, and stakeholders to clarify project requirements
  • Resolve discrepancies in plans and specifications
  • Facilitate smooth transition from estimating to project management upon award
  • Execute subcontracts and material purchase orders while ensuring insurance compliance
  • Support project teams with cost tracking, forecasting, and vendor selection
  • Communicate key risks, assumptions, and strategies identified during bidding
  • Monitor industry trends, pricing, and market conditions
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors
