The Opportunity Vessel is growing rapidly, with scores of projects in planning, and we’re looking for an exceptional Construction Permit Coordinator to join the team. In this role, you will own the end-to-end permitting process across our projects, ensuring Vessel’s product meets all applicable codes, regulations, and municipal requirements. You will serve as the primary interface between Vessel and municipalities, government agencies, and local officials—driving approvals, resolving comments, and ensuring projects move forward efficiently. This role is ideal for someone with an architectural background who is deeply familiar with building codes and permitting, but prefers execution, coordination, and problem-solving over design work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in permitting, code compliance, or architectural project coordination
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting processes
  • Experience working directly with municipalities, plan reviewers, and regulatory agencies
  • Ability to review and interpret architectural and construction drawings for code compliance
  • Highly organized with strong project management and follow-through skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally and resolving issues in fast-paced, evolving environments
  • Interest in working in a high-growth, founder-led company environment

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full permitting lifecycle across projects, from initial research and submission through final approvals
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with municipalities, building departments, and regulatory agencies
  • Review architectural and construction documents to ensure compliance with local codes, zoning, and regulatory requirements
  • Identify required permits and proactively drive submission, tracking, and approval timelines to avoid project delays
  • Respond to plan check comments and work cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to resolve issues
  • Partner with design and construction teams to ensure plans meet jurisdictional requirements prior to submission
  • Support inspections and ensure compliance with permit conditions throughout the construction process
  • Identify risks, bottlenecks, and jurisdictional nuances early and develop strategies to navigate them
  • Maintain organized documentation and tracking systems for permits, approvals, and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor changes in codes, regulations, and local policies, and communicate impacts to internal teams
  • Help standardize and scale permitting processes as Vessel expands
