About The Position

J&W Construction & Design Co. is seeking an experienced Construction Operations Manager / Senior Project Manager to oversee and manage all day-to-day operations of our construction company. This person will be responsible for running jobs from lead intake and estimating through completion, managing subcontractors and employees, communicating with clients, enforcing company systems and SOPs, and ensuring every project is completed on time, on budget, and to the company’s quality standards. This is a leadership role for someone who understands construction hands-on, knows how work should be performed, can train and direct field employees, and can hold subcontractors accountable. This person will not primarily be performing the physical labor majority of the time, but must have the field knowledge to inspect work, give direction, solve problems, and ensure quality.

Requirements

  • Strong residential construction, renovation, or remodeling experience
  • Able to read scopes, estimate jobs, manage budgets, and understand job costing
  • Hands-on construction knowledge with the ability to train and direct others
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage both employees and subcontractors
  • Comfortable using construction software; Contractor Foreman experience is a plus
  • Professional communication skills with clients, vendors, subs, and staff
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects at once
  • Accountable, proactive, and able to run the company without daily owner involvement

Responsibilities

  • Manage all construction operations, schedules, jobs, staff, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Prepare, review, and approve estimates, bids, proposals, and change orders
  • Contact subcontractors, gather bids, compare pricing, and coordinate scopes of work
  • Manage projects inside Contractor Foreman project management software, including schedules, daily logs, photos, punch lists, client updates, change orders, job costing, and closeout reports
  • Oversee field employees and ensure they are properly trained, scheduled, and held accountable
  • Communicate professionally with clients from project start through completion
  • Conduct quality control inspections and final walkthroughs
  • Ensure signed contracts, deposits, permits, materials, and schedules are in place before work begins
  • Track project costs, margins, labor, materials, and subcontractor payments
  • Work with bookkeeping/admin support to ensure job costs and financials are accurate
  • Enforce safety procedures, SOPs, jobsite cleanliness, and company standards
  • Handle client concerns, subcontractor issues, delays, and field problems
  • Provide monthly reports to ownership on job progress, profitability, staff performance, and operational needs
