About The Position

Westwood's Baton Rouge, LA operation is searching for a Construction Observer with strong technical, communication and interpersonal skills that works well in a fast-paced construction environment. This role will conduct on-site observations of construction activities related to site infrastructure installation to serve residential and commercial developments.

Requirements

• Strong technical expertise as it relates to construction activities.
• Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret construction plans.
• Must be familiar with grading, utility and street construction.
• Ability to utilize Microsoft Office products such as Xcel and Word to create weekly reports, etc.

Nice To Haves

• Prefer an individual with at least 3-5 years of experience in residential & commercial construction observation.
• Experience with City of Dallas standards and specifications.
• Experience in reviewing pay applications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site observations of construction activities related to site infrastructure installation to serve residential and commercial developments.
• Evaluate erosion control.
• Observe site grading activities.
• Observe utility construction activities such as water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer installation.
• Observe paving construction.
• Review testing reports.
• Ensure the contractors are constructing improvements in accordance to the City standards and specifications and construction plans.
• Prepare weekly construction summary reports.
• Review monthly contractor pay applications.
• Occasional travel within Louisiana.
