About The Position

AECOM is actively seeking a talented and experienced Construction Mid-Level Mechanical Systems Inspector to support the US Army Corps of Engineers. This is an onsite, full-time position. The role involves reviewing plans and specifications, overseeing work to ensure construction conforms to contract drawings, and reviewing the technical aspects of designated major design, construction, renovation, or alteration projects. Responsibilities include reviewing RFIs, submittals, BCOES reviews, and performing plan-in-hand reviews. The inspector will also review, inspect, and test mechanical systems and equipment, monitor and document commissioning of building systems, and prepare pertinent correspondence, reports, and A-E contract criteria. Additionally, the position requires reviewing complex change orders and claims, and attending all mechanical and plumbing meetings to ensure RFP and design requirements, including LEED, are met. Attendance at warranty inspections and support in maintaining contractual warranty are also key duties.

Requirements

HS + 10 Years of relevant experience in construction practices, engineering, procedures, and testing, and large vertical DoD construction projects.
3 years commissioning experience.
US citizenship is required.
Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background checks.
Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
Must pass a Federal Background check to be issued a CAC card.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
Knowledge of HVAC, piping, plumbing and building control systems
Experience using RMS
USACE experience

Responsibilities

Review of plans and specifications and oversight of work to ensure construction conforms to contract drawings.
Reviewing the technical aspects of designated major design, construction, renovation or alteration projects.
Review RFIs, submittals, BCOES reviews and perform plan in hand reviews.
Review, inspect and test mechanical systems and equipment installed in projects.
Monitor and document commissioning of building systems.
Preparation of the pertinent correspondence, reports, and A-E contract criteria necessary for project completion.
Review of controversial and/or complex change orders and claims to ensure they are adequately documented and justified.
Attendance of all mechanical and plumbing meetings and providing input on effectively meeting all Requests for Proposal (RFP) and design requirements, to include any LEED requirements incorporated into the design.
Attendance of all warranty inspections and support in attaining and maintaining the contractual warranty.
