Construction Materials Testing Technician

ALLWEST is seeking Construction Materials Testing Technicians (Engineering Technicians) to join our Lewiston, Idaho team. ALLWEST is a 100% employee-owned geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, construction materials testing, and special inspections firm serving the Inland Northwest and beyond. We have offices located in Hayden, Lewiston and Meridian, Idaho; Missoula, Montana; and Spokane and Tri-Cities, Washington. This position requires working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and the ability to work more than 40 hours per week during peak summer months, with hours subject to seasonal fluctuations in the winter.
Requirements
- Ability to use a computer and/or mobile device to complete daily field reports
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. alone, maneuver up to 75 lbs. with assistance and walk on uneven surfaces
- Strong attention to detail
- Basic math skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a client-service approach
- Must have a clean driving record and valid driver's license
Nice To Haves
- Minimum one year of applicable experience in soils, asphalt, or concrete testing (We're willing to train someone with the right aptitude and willingness to learn.)
- WAQTC certified and/or ACI Field Testing Technician, Grade I or above preferred
- Nuclear gauge safety training preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent; AA in Civil Engineering Technology preferred
Responsibilities
- Construction site field observation
- Perform sampling and field testing on construction materials such as concrete, soils, aggregates or asphalt in the field.
- Check compliance with plans and specifications
- Prepare electronic daily field reports that summarize services provided, and calculation of test results
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors and engineering team
