About The Position

SCI Engineering is hiring an experienced Construction Materials Testing Technician for its San Antonio–Selma, Texas location. The role involves testing and inspecting construction materials, completing written and electronic reports, and communicating with site and office personnel. More experienced technicians may supervise and train less-experienced staff. The position requires adherence to safety procedures and standards and regular outdoor work. The listed hourly pay range is $22.00–$28.00.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Zero to one year of prior experience is required.
• Reliable transportation.
• Valid driver’s license and current driver’s insurance.
• Availability for overtime and weekend work as needed.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations.
• Ability to perform arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common-sense understanding to written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
• Ability to address problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
• Basic logical understanding of smartphones.
• Logical approach to problem solving.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
• Enjoy working outside.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of relevant experience is preferred.
• American Concrete Institute (ACI), International Code Council (ICC), and/or NiCET certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform tests and inspections on construction materials.
