About The Position

This internship provides an opportunity to observe and document field activities related to the construction process. Interns will be involved in sampling, testing, and inspecting various construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel placement. The role also includes performing calculations, data reduction of test results, and drafting. Interns will use field screening equipment, document readings, read maps, follow directions, and interpret engineering and construction plans. Daily interaction and communication with contractors, technicians, and project managers are expected. A key aspect of this role is gaining the confidence to represent ECS independently on project sites.

Requirements

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related degree
• Interest in how building materials are utilized in the construction process
• Position requires carrying 40 – 70 lbs multiple times a day or occasionally lifting 85 lbs to waist height
• Must be able to provide suitable transportation for use on job sites - mileage will be reimbursed
