About The Position

S&ME is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Department in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This role involves managing technically challenging projects, expanding the company's presence in Southeast Tennessee, and serving as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and internal project teams. The company has a 50-year history of delivering innovative geotechnical, civil, environmental, and construction material testing services across various industries.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of industry experience and professional certifications.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing or coordinating Construction Materials Testing, Special Inspections, or Geotechnical Consulting projects.
Experience managing project budgets, schedules, client communications, and technical deliverables.
Strong understanding of ASTM standards and construction quality assurance practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Willingness and ability to perform physical demands including working outdoors in varying weather conditions, walking over rough terrain, standing for up to 12 hours a day, and lifting/carrying 40-50lbs.
Ability to maneuver field equipment safely.
Must comply with Fleet Management, Substance Policy, and Reference Check requirements.
Must have valid employment eligibility (I-9).

Responsibilities

Provide leadership for construction materials testing and geotechnical consulting projects.
Manage multiple construction materials testing (CMT) and geotechnical consulting projects from proposal through completion, ensuring successful delivery of scope, schedule, budget, and client expectations.
Develop project scopes, fee proposals, work plans, and schedules.
Lead kickoff meetings and coordinate field, laboratory, and technical teams.
Review construction documents, specifications, geotechnical reports, testing requirements, and technical deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with ASTM standards and project specifications.
Oversee project financial performance, including budgeting, invoicing, profitability, and accounts receivable.
Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities for additional services.
Mentor engineers, technicians, and inspectors.
Champion a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with leadership to support growth initiatives throughout the Chattanooga market.
