Raba Kistner is seeking an enthusiastic Construction Materials Technician I to join our team in Gonzales, LA. The Construction Materials Technician is responsible for conducting field or laboratory testing, sampling, and/or inspection services.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, G.E.D., or possess at least one current relevant industry certification, such as ACI Field, ACI Concrete Strength, ACI Aggregates, TxDOT SB101, SB102, SB103, SB201, SB202, 1A or 1B or other comparable industry certifications as required.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet firm’s auto insurability requirements.
  • Able to travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain.
  • Possess Troxler Manufacturing or equal radiation safety course to utilize nuclear gauges, Technician Training and Certification Program (TTCP) from the Texas State Highway and Transportation Department, or ability to complete within 6 months of employment.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, labels, reports, etc.
  • Good oral and written communication skills including the ability to write short correspondences, notes, letters and memos.
  • Must be safety minded and willing to put safety first in performing all duties.

Nice To Haves

  • If no certifications are currently held, will be required to obtain at least one of the industry certifications as designated by supervisor with support of the firm, within six months of employment.
  • Employment contingent upon meeting these requirements.
  • Ability to complete radiation safety course within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with dispatcher/coordinator to ensure priorities and deadlines are met in both the field and laboratory.
  • Meet with supervisors of contractors, engineer/architect representatives and/or other project leads on project sites to discuss and coordinate testing, sampling or inspection of construction materials or construction procedures.
  • Following safety protocols, ensure safe utilization, storage and maintenance of all nuclear gauges and field equipment.
  • Communicate project progress and delays to supervisor and dispatcher.
  • Submit accurate and complete testing/inspection reports on a daily basis.
  • Drive company vehicles to job sites in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
