About The Position

AECOM is seeking a motivated, hands-on Construction Materials & Quality Control Technician / Field Runner to support major transportation infrastructure projects throughout Utah. The role supports projects for the Utah Department of Transportation and other public agency clients, helping ensure the quality, safety, and long-term performance of roadway and transportation improvements. The technician supports construction teams through materials testing, quality-control documentation, field coordination, and the collection and delivery of samples, reports, and project materials. The position works with inspectors, contractors, laboratory personnel, and project managers to help ensure construction activities meet project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Work takes place outdoors at active construction projects and includes travel to sites throughout the region. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of related experience, or demonstrated equivalency through a combination of education and experience.
Valid driver's license and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records check in accordance with company policy.
Must pass a drug screening as a condition of employment.
Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds consistently.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and active construction environments.

Nice To Haves

SRDTT Concrete Testing Certification.
Prior UDOT construction inspection or materials testing experience.
Previous experience working with a municipal, county, or state transportation agency.
Experience performing construction materials testing and quality control documentation.
Familiarity with roadway, bridge, and transportation construction projects.
Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

Perform field and laboratory testing of concrete, asphalt, aggregate, soil, and other roadway construction materials.
Collect, transport, and track material samples between project sites and testing laboratories.
Conduct daily field observations and inspections to verify compliance with project plans, specifications, and quality requirements.
Maintain accurate testing records, inspection reports, and project documentation.
Support quality assurance and quality control efforts on active construction projects.
Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, laboratory staff, and project teams regarding testing schedules and project needs.
Assist with monitoring construction activities and documenting project progress.
Participate in punch list activities, testing, and project closeout efforts.
Track quality-related issues and communicate findings to project stakeholders.
Prioritize assignments and meet project deadlines using experience and judgment.
Provide on-the-job guidance and training to less experienced team members as needed.
Safely operate company vehicles and travel to project sites throughout the region.
