About The Position

S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time Project Manager to join our Construction Services team in Charlotte, North Carolina. As a Construction Materials Project Manager, you'll lead the delivery of construction materials testing, special inspections, and technical consulting services for a variety of projects. Responsibilities include managing field operations, reviewing and interpreting testing results, developing reports and proposals, and supporting the growth and development of junior team members. Your knowledge of soils, concrete, asphalt, and masonry testing will be key to ensuring quality project execution and strengthening client relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or a similar technical field, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in project management of construction materials testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt
  • Active industry certifications: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician, International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)
  • Excellent business and technical writing skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to effectively lead teams with varying responsibilities and tasks

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support subsurface exploration activities, evaluate potential impacts to data reliability, recommend modifications to project scope when needed, and coordinate laboratory testing programs for collected materials.
  • Carry out field inspections and construction monitoring activities, maintain accurate documentation of site conditions, and provide guidance to junior staff on testing and inspection procedures involving soils, concrete, asphalt, and masonry materials.
  • Perform technical evaluations and intermediate-level engineering calculations, assist in training junior personnel on analytical procedures, and review laboratory results to verify consistency, accuracy, and overall data quality.
  • Develop detailed technical reports and daily field summaries, contribute to proposal preparation through project research and site evaluations, and assist with drafting project scopes under the direction of senior professionals.
  • Support client communication and relationship-building efforts, participate in networking and professional association activities, assist with business development initiatives, and contribute to marketing and operational growth efforts within the office.
