Construction Materials Field Technician
About The Position
TTL, a growing engineering design firm with over 450 employees, is seeking a construction materials field technician for its Tuscaloosa, AL office. This role involves monitoring, observing, and sampling materials used in construction work, performing routine field and laboratory tests and inspections to ensure conformity with construction plans and specifications. The technician will follow proper procedures, perform accurate computations, maintain good relationships with colleagues, clients, and contractors, and prepare daily reports and data sheets. The work is performed with close to moderate supervision and is described as hard but rewarding, contributing to community improvement.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to professionally communicate both orally and in writing
- Good driving record
- Perform heavy lifting of 50 or more pounds
- Work in outdoor (hot or cold) environments
Nice To Haves
- College coursework or degree with an emphasis in physical sciences and/or math preferred
- One year of testing experience in soil, concrete, earthwork, and asphalt preferred (but not required)
