About The Position

This role is responsible for all aspects of construction projects, from project inception to final completion. The Construction Manager will provide timely, concise, and transparent communications to operations and all stakeholders. They will direct general contractors, engineers, architects, and vendors to complete construction projects while satisfying contract requirements. This position will cooperate with 7-Eleven’s Environmental consultant to ensure all federal, state, and local laws are being followed. The role involves assessing project performance through Key Performance Indicators for safety, quality, cost, and schedule. The ability to create project plans, including but not limited to a project charter, schedule, responsibility matrix, risk management plan, communication management plan, and stakeholder register is essential. Responsibilities include facilitating site surveys, due diligence of conditions, and preparing scopes of work. Financial accountability includes estimates, budget development, change orders, invoice review, and project closeout. The Construction Manager will spearhead the design review, ensuring accuracy against defined scope and specifications for approvals. They will lead permitting and assist in negotiations with appropriate regulatory bodies and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) as required. The role directs the bid management process and makes recommendations regarding contractor selection. Field oversight and direction are provided during the execution phase from preconstruction through issue of final required inspections and occupancy. The Construction Manager will develop site-specific, accurate equipment take-offs and orders for each project. Regular reporting is required, including percent of completion, estimated date of turnover to operations, actual costs, and cost forecasts. Ensuring that vendors deliver work to meet duration and quality targets, and addressing and ensuring the correction of under-performance issues are key. The role is accountable for minimizing, recording, and overseeing the completion of all project deficiencies in a timely manner. Cultivating a culture of safety in accordance with department guidelines and handing over projects to stakeholders after successful completion of commissioning protocols are also required. The role is remote and will include upwards of 50% travel regionally, with the potential of traveling to all North America locations based on the business needs.

Requirements

  • Construction and project management experience
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Alternatively: High School diploma/GED with equivalent experience or 4 + years of US military experience

Nice To Haves

  • Operational experience in c-store, fueling, or quick service restaurant
  • Understanding of accessibility and life safety laws and how they apply
  • Expertise in installing and maintaining retail (UST) fueling systems
  • Working knowledge of refrigeration equipment, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems
  • Additional certifications or education applicable to this role
