ASC Construction Manager
About The Position
Leidos is seeking a Construction Manager to join the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) team, supporting US Antarctic Program (USAP) locations. The ASC provides science and logistics support across three remote research stations (McMurdo, Palmer, South Pole) and deep field sites in Antarctica. This role involves managing multi-disciplinary construction projects, including civil work, renovations, repairs, utilities, facility construction, and science support construction. Projects utilize a mix of self-performed and subcontracted work. The position is remote within the US, with significant deployment requirements to Antarctica (approximately 4-6 months per year). Travel, lodging, and meals are provided during deployment. Candidates must pass NSF physical and dental exams for Antarctica deployment. US Citizenship is required, and a Public Trust security clearance must be obtained.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree with at least 8+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent work experience.
- US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
- 5+ years of construction supervision experience.
- Experience supervising trades employees, project scheduling, and project cost estimating.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and diagrams.

- Experience executing construction projects in remote and logistically challenging locations.
- Possess OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience using construction scheduling applications such as Primavera (P6) and Microsoft Project.
- Experience working in polar environments.

Responsibilities
- Direct responsibility for the execution of construction projects.
- Manage construction activities following project plans, specifications, and project schedules.
- Keep relevant project managers and others informed of project status, issues, and incidents through daily field activity reports.
- Plan and coordinate for availability of equipment, tools, and materials for self-perform scopes of work.
- Perform planning and estimating for construction estimates, schedules, and procurements.
- Perform constructability design reviews.
- Responsible for change control during the construction phase and managing construction budgets.
- Identify required design and specification changes prior to construction and document changes through engineering review.
- Participate in project meetings/teleconferences to monitor progress, implement procedures, ensure compliance with specifications and standards, and ensure safety procedures are followed.
- Report project progress in relation to project schedules and update schedules.
- Support deconfliction of resources, maximize subcontractor effectiveness, avoid delays, and minimize impacts on routine operations.
- Coordinate construction support efforts such as material laydown areas, jobsite trailer placement, and temporary site utilities.
- Interact with the National Science Foundation (NSF), military, and other agency officials.
- Stakeholder management and coordination between ASC functional work groups and project-specific subcontractors.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace program and ensuring safety is the highest priority.
- Perform other duties as required.
