About The Position

The primary responsibilities of the Construction Manager are to provide administration and support inspection needs for a range of construction projects which vary from small stand-alone projects to complex, multi-discipline programs; to provide client management and liaison at the project site; to understand and verify conformance with contemporary construction methods in accordance with applicable codes and standards; to fundamentally deliver a complete and acceptable project in reasonably close conformance to the project drawings and specifications; and to provide general oversight of project implementation by the contractor on construction labor and subcontractor work to assure a good and cooperative operation. This position services the Southeast Florida region.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent, required.
  • Minimum of 15+ years' experience inspecting construction projects, required.
  • Vertical (building) experience, required.
  • Experience with DOT and FAA construction methods, materials, standards, and specifications, required.
  • Working knowledge of applicable statutes, rules, ordinances, codes and regulations governing airport operations, required.
  • Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications and have a solid understanding of complex construction means and methods.
  • Must be able to handle basic geometric mathematical calculations involving linear distances, areas, and volumes.
  • Must have good written and communication skills.
  • Must have reasonable computer skills and be literate in MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel, and should be proficient in Procore or other Construction Management software.
  • Experience in the inspection of concrete, earthwork, lighting, structures, foundations, roofing, precast, tilt wall, MEP systems, etc.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of safety construction practices and principles.
  • Ability to read and understand contract documents.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of clients, management, and employees.
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect privileged client information and documents appropriately.
  • Knowledge of correct English usage including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.
  • Valid drivers' license and maintenance of satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance for air operations badging and Customs Border Protection (CBP) access.

Nice To Haves

  • College education in engineering, architecture, or construction management, preferred.
  • Inspection certifications, preferred.
  • Preference will be given for airport and aviation related vertical projects such as hangars and terminals.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and conducts construction inspections according to approved drawings and specifications.
  • Ensures compliance with the project plans, specifications, and local building codes.
  • Monitors and documents construction activities.
  • Prepares field investigation and construction inspection reports.
  • Observes, monitors, and reports on quality control and quality assurance material field testing required to determine contractor's compliance with contract specifications.
  • Provides field measurements and assists in compiling quantity reports (CQVs) for payment of quantities and changes in the work.
  • Reviews plans and permits, conducts field inspections, and/or participates in field meetings.
  • Prepares and maintains inspector daily reports (IDR's) of work-in-progress and provides status reports relative to completion of work in accordance with the project plans and specifications for the Owner and other funding and shareholders.
  • Records and reports on any deviations from the contract documents.
  • Provides high-level communication regarding issues, objectives, initiatives in performance, and compliance to plans and specifications.
  • Maintains and promotes a safe working environment.
  • Able and available to support work requirements based on day or night shifts and /or flexible schedules, including weekends as required, to support the project requirements, sometimes with little or no advanced notice.
