About The Position

JMT is currently ranked #45 on Engineering News-Record’s list of the Top 500 Design Firms. JMT is seeking a Construction Manager to join its Kentucky operations. The primary clients are the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) and other Local Government agencies throughout Kentucky. The successful candidate will support the KY CEI Lead and KY Construction Field Supervisor in managing current staff and developing a strong and sustainable CEI program for other clients and infrastructure types. Additionally, the ideal candidate will act as a Resident Engineer, leading a team of inspectors in overseeing various infrastructure improvement projects.

  • Active driver’s license
  • Reliable motor vehicle history
  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with clients.
  • Manage field technicians.
  • Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to observe and document contractor compliance with plans, contract documents, specifications, and standards.
  • Assign, schedule, and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all project phases.
  • Review and maintain all pertinent project documentation, ensuring accurate detailing of construction progress, activities, and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permitting conditions and safety policies and programs.
  • Monitor EEO and DBE progress and performance.
  • Prepare, review, and submit project inspection reports, work authorizations, work orders, and estimates.
  • Track project progress and advise parties of potential overruns and critical project issues.
  • Attend pre-bid, pre-construction, and/or management meetings.
  • Assist the client with change orders and claim defense.
  • Provide clients with updates on construction progress and issues.
  • Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries.
  • Act on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction-related field issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
