S&B is currently seeking a Construction Manager to provide overall management direction for field construction projects. This role may, on occasion, place the individual in the overall responsible position of a project, in which case the additional duties of the Project Manager will also apply. Requirements

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience in Construction Management.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a Construction Manager role.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects that range in varying size and complexity.
  • Ability to manage projects with a direct hire scope of 2MM – 3.5MM manhours.
  • Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
  • Sound knowledge of cost and schedule adherence.
  • Skills to employ tact, diplomacy and influence.
  • Understanding and ability to manage the inter-working relationships between various craft trades including sub-contractors.
  • Ability to anticipate and implement corrective actions to limit potential labor-related disputes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, including participation in virtual meetings, collaboration through chat and channels, document sharing, and coordination with distributed project teams.
  • Ability to effectively use digital tools to support project coordination, reporting, scheduling updates, and communication across engineering, procurement, construction, and client teams.
  • Comfort working in a technology-enabled construction environment, including use of laptops, tablets, and mobile devices to access drawings, schedules, procedures, and project data.
  • Willingness to adapt to evolving company systems, software platforms, and digital workflows as project and business needs change.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering design drawings, technical procedures and specifications, government regulations, business correspondence and manuals.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate directions effectively verbally to craft supervisors and respond to questions from clients, managers, and fellow workers.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall management direction for field construction projects.
  • Supervise Project Superintendents, Craft Superintendent, General Foreman, and Foreman positions.
  • Report to the assigned AOM, VP of Field Operations, and Sr. VP of EPC and Construction.
  • Make decisions and recommendations that can greatly impact corporate relationships with clients and project profitability.
  • Plan, organize and staff key field positions through department heads.
  • Implement, manage and provide safety leadership to ensure zero injury safety results.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy.
  • Initiate and maintain liaison with prime client and engineers to facilitate construction activities.
  • Monitor/control construction through administrative direction of on-site Superintendents to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious delay situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Represent the Company in project meetings, assist in any labor negotiations/strategy meetings, etc.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, etc.) to protect the Company’s interest and simultaneously maintain a good relationship with the client.
