About The Position

The Construction Manager will be responsible for observing, monitoring, and documenting the timely and safe execution of site, structural, and electrical work performed in the field by construction and contracting crews for bridges, dams, highways, and other types of transportation or water construction projects. Observation of existing conditions, work in progress, and completed work will be the responsibility of the Construction Manager and requires coordination with engineering & design teams as needed. The incumbent may function as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Engineer, or Senior Inspector with various clients. The Construction Manager will also assist in on-site resolution of construction-related issues as they are identified and ensure that work is done in accordance with contract documents. This position is heavily field-based. Our goal is to provide construction management services in the form of project engineering and inspection services to Departments of Transportation, Counties, and Municipalities.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a minimum of 6 years of Comparable Field Experience
  • Experience working with DOT and/or Municipalities
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and construction specifications/manuals
  • Ability to read and understand construction and procurement contracts
  • Ability to read and understand project schedules and Gantt charts
  • Knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Office, Project/Primavera, Procore, and Bluebeam
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent verbal/written communications
  • Strong math skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with owners’ representatives, contractors, vendors, and others on and off the job site
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • 10-15 years of related field experience preferred
  • Professional Engineering License preferred
  • Traffic Control Supervisor, Transportation Erosion Control Supervisor, Flagger, ACI or related certifications for Asphalt and /or Concrete preferred
  • While every effort will be made to keep work close to where the candidate lives, you must have the ability to work remotely on expenses during construction if the need arises.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project staff in their duties
  • Work closely with Project engineers, construction engineers, and superintendents
  • Ensure adherence to Safety policies
  • Perform and document job safety walks on a regular basis
  • Ensure adherence to the client’s Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs
  • Report, track, and resolve non-conformance issues in coordination with QA/QC
  • Review and adhere to the environmental management plan
  • Review task budget, set and track productivity
  • Execute work plans for the construction activities
  • Implement basic layout and field measurements
  • Track Requests for Information (RFls)
  • Update "as built" drawings
  • Track and resolve punch list items
  • Prepare task completion reports
  • Prepare basic take-off
  • Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers
  • Ability to work approximately 80% in the field, nights, weekends, and more than 40 hours per week, often in inclement conditions.
  • Ability to work as a designer and/or otherwise support design efforts during the winter or between assignments is preferred
