About The Position

Arcadis is seeking Construction Managers for Station Areas along the Yonge North Subway Extension (YNSE) corridor. These roles are part of the Technical Advisor services for Metrolinx and will focus on urban planning and engineering compliance to ensure the stations integrate seamlessly into the local communities. The YNSE project includes five planned stations: Steeles, Clark, Royal Orchard, Bridge, and High Tech.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5+ years of infrastructure project management experience, preferably in large-scale public transit projects.
  • A university degree in Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
  • A P.Eng (Professional Engineer) or RPP (Registered Professional Planner) designation.
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Planning Act, property acquisition, and multi-disciplinary stakeholder management.
  • Thorough knowledge of the OHSA and local construction regulations.
  • Strong blueprint and schematic reading proficiency (structural, civil, and utilities plans).
  • Clear, universal communication skills to manage diverse field crews and interface with municipal agency representatives.
  • Strong analytical skills to handle complex utility conflicts or structural variables safely on-site.
  • Valid Ontario G Driver’s Licence.
  • Must have vehicle and be able to travel between multiple construction sites along Yonge St.

  • Familiarity with alternative project delivery models is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the construction compliance of a sub-segment of the Advance Tunnel project, including subway stations, underground structures, EEB and TPSS sites, and tunnel boring activities.
  • Managing construction activities such as headwalls, support of excavation (SOE), excavation, decking, road detours, and tunnel boring.
  • Managing a team of Surface Civil and Tunnel Construction Managers, coordinators, and inspectors.
  • Performing compliance inspections against contract requirements, verifying materials, workmanship, and installation.
  • Witnessing testing, commissioning, and inspections.
  • Issuing change orders and change directives as recommended or approved by the Professional of Record (PoR).
  • Overseeing the implementation of and conformance with the contractor’s quality documentation.
  • Maintaining inspection reports, deficiency logs, and RFI logs.
  • Verifying contractor compliance with technical standards, regulatory approvals, and owner specifications.
  • Supporting acceptance and handover readiness.
  • Escalating instances of non-compliance to the Owner and/or Professional of Record, including initiating Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Reviewing, marking up, and certifying progress payments in collaboration with the PoR team.
  • Preparing substantial performance and total completion correspondence when certified by the PoR team and after the Design Compliance Letter has been issued.
  • Coordinating with OneT and the PoR responsible for construction administration of civil works and wet utilities.
  • Managing and coordinating with third-party owners regarding the construction of and/or relocation of dry utilities.
  • Overseeing environmental compliance in the station area.
  • Coordinating with other Station Area Construction Managers on the AT YNSE.
