Construction Manager - Electrical Engineer (CM-EE)
About The Position
ISI Professional Services is seeking a full-time onsite Construction Manager-Electrical Engineer to provide Owner’s Representation services for a potential future opportunity supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. This role is for the EHRM Infrastructure Upgrades and Data Center Construction project, which involves constructing a new data center, renovating telecommunications rooms, upgrading campus-wide cabling, and installing supporting building systems. The work will occur within an active medical center, requiring careful phasing, coordination of utility shutdowns, and potential off-hours activities. The Construction Manager-Electrical Engineer will provide full-time onsite construction-phase oversight, aligning with contractor operations and VA facility requirements. This is an anticipated future position, and hiring is dependent on ISI being awarded the contract. Qualified candidates are being engaged in advance to prepare for the project team when the schedule is confirmed. Applicants who advance will be kept informed of procurement and funding milestones.
Requirements
- Four (4) year degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline AND Minimum six (6) years of professional engineering or construction management experience OR Fifteen (15) years of directly related construction management experience in lieu of degree.
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience managing facility electrical construction projects including design oversight, schedule management, cost control, and construction administration
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, OR non-U.S. citizen lawfully authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, AND have at least three (3) years of U.S. residency
- Ability to work full-time onsite in Gainesville, FL
- Must provide own PPE
- Ability to work independently in an active medical facility
Nice To Haves
- Federal construction experience (VA strongly preferred)
- Healthcare construction experience
- Experience supporting IT / telecommunications / infrastructure upgrades
- Familiarity with building codes and permitting requirements
Responsibilities
- Provide construction-phase oversight support
- Conduct daily onsite construction inspections
- Track and monitor submittals and RFIs
- Review submittals and provide written recommendations
- Review RFIs and provide technical input prior to COR deadlines
- Monitor construction schedule and progress
- Review and validate contractor pay applications
- Document deficiencies and track corrective actions
- Monitor long-lead procurement items
- Support development of FORCE packages
- Maintain project tracking reports
- Participate in bi-weekly and other project meetings
- Coordinate with VA COR and Healthcare Engineer
- Prepare and submit daily and weekly inspection documentation
