About The Position

The Veteran Affairs is seeking a Construction Manager/Architect (CM-A) to provide construction management support for multiple non-recurring maintenance (NRM) projects within an active VA medical campus. This role involves providing professional and technical consultative assistance for operations, renovation, and new construction programs. The CM-A will support the Contracting Officer and Contracting Officer’s Representative in various aspects of project management, including project engineering, planning, scheduling, design reviews, code compliance, testing, record keeping, quality control, quality assurance, cost control, and general oversight of design and construction projects.

Requirements

Must be a licensed professional.
Hold a Bachelor of Architecture from an accredited school of higher education.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in both design and construction.
Ability to quickly understand and master the requirements of local, state, and federal jurisdictions, as well as project-specific requirements.
Possess knowledge of Construction Contract Documents, including Front End and Technical Specifications and Drawings.
Must have the skillset and working knowledge of engineering services, building codes, budgeting, and scheduling.
Must possess communication, language, and software skills with the ability to utilize a variety of computer programs.

Nice To Haves

Focus on medical facilities is a plus.
Licensed Professional Engineers are a plus.
Experience as a CMa managing VA projects.
Experience as a CMa managing Medical projects.

Responsibilities

Monitoring project financial data and budgetary cost accounting, including administration of construction contract change orders and maintaining project fund records.
Preparing and maintaining project schedules, coordinating with general contractors, and addressing schedule slippages.
Conducting or attending project meetings to review progress, monitor schedules, and process contractor payments.
Assisting in issue resolution by maintaining thorough records and documenting project matters.
Monitoring the services of independent testing agencies for quality control testing and inspection.
Providing expertise for the start-up, calibration, and certification of facilities or operating systems, including commissioning services.
Maintaining marked-up project plans and specifications for as-built drawings.
Performing routine inspections of construction to identify non-conforming work and notifying the VA and general contractor for correction.
Compiling lists of defects and omissions for contractor correction.
Assisting in relocation efforts.
Reviewing submittals and requests for information (RFIs).
Maintaining daily logs of activity.
Coordinating owner-supplied equipment.
Managing operational and maintenance data.
Overseeing closeout submittals.
