Ameresco develops, constructs, and operates smart energy efficiency solutions, distributed energy resources, and infrastructure upgrades. The company is seeking an experienced Construction Manager in the Texas area to support water meter equipment replacement projects in Texas and surrounding states. This role involves work in commercial buildings and homes for utility providers, typically local city jurisdictions. This is a full-time, on-site position requiring weekly travel to projects in Texas or surrounding states.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or an equivalent.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience managing industrial, residential, or utility infrastructure construction projects, with a strong emphasis on water meter installations; At least three (3) years must include experience working in the AMI field.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting P&IDs, one-line diagrams, equipment submittals, shop drawings, and specifications.
  • Deep understanding of construction methods, system tie-ins, commissioning processes, and utility infrastructure best practices.
  • Experience working on AMI projects, including coordination with customer stakeholders, subcontractors and phased installation routes.
  • Demonstrated experience managing equipment replacement and retrofit projects involving major mechanical systems.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid) and Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, and Project.
  • Demonstrated success managing projects in mission-critical or continuously operating facilities.
  • OSHA 30 certification or more safety training.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex operational constraints.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate for and embrace Ameresco’s “Culture of Safety”, ensuring strict adherence to all safety policies, especially within energized and operational utility environments.
  • Oversee and manage subcontractors, installation crews and field vendors performing on-site installations or construction activities for the installation of AMI equipment.
  • Help develop and maintain detailed construction schedules and installation sequencing plans, identify schedule risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Assist the project manager with budget tracking, cost forecasting, and change management, especially for orders and inventory of equipment.
  • Review subcontractor invoices, material receipts, and labor reports for accuracy.
  • Implement quality control processes including functional testing, inspections, punch lists, and system turnover documentation mostly tracked in Procore.
  • Oversee start-up, commissioning, and system integration activities in coordination with engineering and operations teams.
  • Assist with all closeout documentation, including as-builts, O&M manuals, and warranties.
  • Facilitate the smooth transition of systems to city and utility operations and maintenance teams.
  • Prepare documentation run customer weekly update meetings.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed to support operations.
