About The Position

We are seeking a full-time Construction Management Project Manager (EHRM CM PM) at the Sacramento VA Medical Center in Mather, CA. The CM PM will assist in the Electronic Health Records Modernization (EHRM) initiative in cooperation with architects, engineers, and construction contractors. The CM PM functions include participating in design management with the Construction Manager (CM) and General Contractor; monitoring various on-going construction activities and schedule for conformance with contract requirements; overseeing civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, or architectural aspects of construction; supporting processing of easements, pertinent deeds, local code requirements, and restrictions; and supporting coordination of various phases of construction at a VA Medical Facility. This program involves both new construction projects and coordination with renovations of existing buildings. Some of the existing buildings are historic properties. The building types include office buildings, hospitals, clinics, laboratories, warehouses, and other types of real property. Project sizes range from small remodeling or repair projects to multi-million-dollar new buildings or renovations of major existing buildings. At any given time, the projects are in various stages of development from preplanning through design, construction procurement, construction, and post-construction. Projects are typically design bid-build with contracted architecture/engineering and construction firms, design-build, or small in-house designs with contracted construction.

Requirements

  • 10 years of Construction Project Management experience, with 2 years in a medical environment
  • Graduate of an Architectural, Engineering or Construction Management college curriculum four (4) year degree minimum. Construction Administration Professionals lacking a college curriculum OR an additional 8 years of relevant project management experience, and Project Management certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction practices and techniques, e.g., proper applications of construction materials and methods of installation in the professional's area of expertise.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Real ID or Passport in order to undergo commercial airfare travel
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Conducts portions of daily inspections of site work, building construction work; documents discrepancies, code violations, improper materials, or techniques in the application of materials, substandard or poor-quality workmanship; monitors schedules on various aspects of ongoing daily activities to identify and mitigate project slippage and coordinate project phasing.
  • Maintain accurate and complete files relating to the Construction Management services on the project that the Government may inspect at any time.
  • Reviews contractor's submittals and RFIs; maintains accurate and complete job files including as-built drawings and specifications; identifies progress delays and recommends appropriate corrective measures to the lead engineer toward mitigating delays and maintaining the progress schedule.
  • Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports indicating work completed, work in progress with estimated completion dates, work scheduled and outstanding work.
  • Utilize computerized management system applications, processing requests for information, project engineering, scheduling, communications, design assessments, safety compliance, testing compliance, record keeping, construction administration, budget control, change management, construction reporting, and documentation management control.
