About The Position

The Construction & Maintenance Technician provides labor support for construction, maintenance, installation, and emergency response on gas distribution and transmission lines. The role includes paid training and varied daily work settings. The senior-level position performs the entry-level duties plus additional responsibilities. Candidates must live within 30 minutes of the Albuquerque Gas Service Center. The Construction & Maintenance Technician pay range is $46,483 to $58,104. The Senior Construction & Maintenance Technician pay range is $53,592 to $66,990. Placement is based on skills, experience, and education. The ranges include base pay plus supplemental pay administered according to NMGC’s Supplemental Pay Policy.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
For the Construction & Maintenance Technician level: no prior experience is required; ability to obtain and maintain a New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within one year of hire through company-provided paid training.
For the Senior Construction & Maintenance Technician level: three years of experience, a CDL, and a Journeyman Gas Fitter’s License (JGL), dependent on location.
Must live within 30 minutes of the Albuquerque Gas Service Center.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting, carrying, or maneuvering up to 80 pounds.

Responsibilities

Prepare job sites for safe operation.
Work around live gas mains and services, performing taps, stop-offs, or tie-ins.
Excavate sites using manual tools, excavating machinery, and shoring while following safety procedures.
Install and maintain steel pipe or non-steel polyethylene (PE) plastic pipe systems using heat fusion or electrofusion.
Perform safety tests, including pressure tests, on gas pipelines.
Operate company vehicles and equipment and perform preventative and corrective inspections on them.
