About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Part-time as Needed Construction Inspector to join their Construction Management Team in South Florida. This position is on a Part-time as Needed (PTAN) basis, meaning hours will vary based on workload. The role is ideal for individuals seeking flexibility. The Construction Inspector will utilize their expertise in construction inspection, field management, QA/QC, and report documentation on various municipal water and wastewater treatment, pump stations, SCADA, electrical, civil, or other construction projects. They will report to the Resident Engineer and/or Project Manager and may lead other inspectors, providing regular updates on daily construction activities.

Requirements

  • 5 years of mechanical/civil/utility construction inspection experience.
  • Identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to problems.
  • High level of math aptitude.
  • Ability to multi-task several priorities.
  • Solid time management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly MS Excel, MS Word, MS SharePoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work year-round in various weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • 8 or more years of civil/utility construction inspection experience.
  • Experience with structural/mechanical/electrical construction inspection activities on small to larger sized infrastructure construction projects.
  • NASSCO ITCP / PACP certifications.
  • ACI or NICET certifications.
  • OSHA 10 Safety and Confined Space Entry Training.
  • Active participation in a regional or national professional association.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and inspect construction work performed by contractors.
  • Perform punch list inspections.
  • Review drawings and specifications and other technical documents.
  • Prepare detailed daily activity and progress reports/photos.
  • Participate in project schedule and contractor invoice reviews.
  • Maintain quality assurance requirements and approach.
  • Monitor code compliance issues.
  • Inspect and determine deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents.
  • Clearly and professionally inform the contractor of required corrections.
  • Review submittals and other construction documents and recommend technical solutions.
  • Attend and participate in construction meetings, safety meetings/updates and project site coordination meetings.
  • Monitor and document contractor resource utilization (labor, materials, and equipment) for field changes, and time and material work.
  • Assist with negotiation of basic field construction changes.
  • Verify equipment and materials installation for payment purposes.
  • Maintain Payment Quantity documentation.
  • Perform mathematical calculations as necessary during inspection activities.
  • Ensure Arcadis’ project safety guidelines are being met during daily inspections.
  • Perform local travel for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, and construction oversight.
