About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting professional engineers and/or higher-level technicians in performing construction inspection work. The incumbent must be self-motivated and able to perform duties with minimal supervision, interpreting unforeseen conditions as they arise. The role involves participating in appropriate DOTD structured training programs and attending necessary continuing education classes and conferences to facilitate task performance.

Requirements

Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

Inspect construction work to ensure compliance with departmental policies, standards, specifications, and project plans.
Complete and process construction documentation such as field diaries, reports, and estimates.
Enter, review, and maintain construction project data in departmental systems (e.g., MATT, Site Manager, Content Manager).
Apply DOTD engineering policies and procedures while working in the Project Engineer’s office and at construction sites.
Serve as the primary construction inspector in assigned areas of specialization or certification.
Determine material sampling requirements and verify materials, haul quantities, and survey elevations and alignments.
Complete required training and support efficient project operations, including assisting other staff as needed.
