About The Position

CTL Engineering is seeking Engineering Technicians | Construction Inspectors for their Construction Administration/Construction Inspection division. This role is open to all experience levels, with ongoing mentoring and training provided. The position primarily focuses on Water/Wastewater treatment plants and water main projects, including repairs and installations, in the Ashtabula/northeast Ohio region. The company is an award-winning, full-service consulting engineering firm with a long history and multiple locations. Requirements

  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to perform engineering and construction field-testing.
  • Ability to work in external environment conditions during difficult weather.
  • Ability to work and provide status updates independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience/exposure to water/wastewater plant and/or water main projects is a strong plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of engineering, construction, testing and inspection principles is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of materials testing - standard testing and observation methods – is a plus.
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction or engineering principles is a strong plus.
  • ACI Grade I Concrete Testing Technician (preferred but not required)

Responsibilities

  • Performs construction engineering technician and inspection services primarily involving concrete testing, rebar inspection, and other building materials for W/WW plant construction projects and overseeing utility location, digging, and water main installations/connections and repairs for municipal clients.
  • Responsible for testing, inspecting, and reporting on specific aspects of construction works in progress, such as concrete pours, rebar placement, utility location, vertical and horizontal digging, as examples.
  • Performs inspections for construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans, and/or proposals for construction work.
  • Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer of non-conforming work.
  • May be responsible for inspection and sampling of construction materials.
  • Performs computations with formulas, plots data, and draws simple curves and graphs.
  • Assists Engineers in field during soil and materials investigations.
  • Ensures that job site tests/observations, including quality control, quality assurance, and verifications are performed in accordance with the standard test/observation methods, project specifications and other contract documents.
