About The Position

We’re currently looking for a Construction Inspector (Resident Observer) to join our growing team in our Pittsburgh office. Requirements

  • At least 3 years of construction inspection or observation experience, ideally on water and/or wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Can read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents with confidence.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and in person, with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working independently in the field but also collaborating effectively with project teams.
  • Detail-oriented and take pride in ensuring work is completed correctly and to a high standard.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to manage responsibilities across active job sites.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site inspections to ensure construction work is completed in accordance with plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Monitor construction activities on water and wastewater infrastructure projects, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Document daily operations, installed quantities, and field measurements through clear and detailed reporting.
  • Serve as a key point of contact in the field, regularly interacting with contractors, property owners, clients, and engineers.
  • Attend and participate in project meetings, including pre-construction conferences, progress meetings, and other job-related discussions.
  • Review contractor applications for payment and provide recommendations to the project manager based on observed progress and compliance.
  • Assist in responding to project issues or emergencies in coordination with the project manager.
  • Support construction managers and project teams by providing accurate, real-time field insights.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety policies and standards.
