UNICO is seeking a seasoned Construction Inspector who has experience dealing with different types of infrastructure including roadways and paving, structures (bridges), curb, gutter, sidewalk, underground utilities, earthwork, etc. Must have 5 years of applicable experience. Must possess a thorough understanding of plans and specifications, Caltrans, and local agency requirements.

  • 5 years of applicable experience
  • Thorough understanding of plans and specifications, Caltrans, and local agency requirements
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Ability to use computer to complete project documentation
  • Thorough understanding of CAL OSHA practices and procedures
  • Bridge construction inspection experience required
  • Ability to pass a pre employment drug screening
  • Clean Drivers license and DMV record required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience for transportation, structures and utility projects
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a construction inspectors’ capacity
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Caltrans procedures and standards highly preferred
  • college preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily inspections and complete documentation including daily reports, project photographs, etc.
  • Coordinate with clients/owners, other consultants, contractors, materials testers and others involved with the project.
  • Assist Resident Engineers and provide input on project schedule, extra work bills, potential change orders, and communication with businesses and residents.
  • Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Monitor construction for compliance with project documents including collecting and checking material tags and certificates of compliance.
  • Measure, calculate, and document quantities of installed materials in accordance with client policies and procedures.
  • Inspect road and bridge construction (based on Caltrans Standards), including checking grades, formwork, rebar placement, concrete batch tickets, curing method, etc.
  • Communicate with project team members and provide recommendations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
