About The Position

City of Edinburg in Edinburg, TX is actively seeking a dedicated Construction Inspector to perform a wide range of field engineering construction inspection duties of public works and capital improvement projects. The Construction Inspector position earns competitive pay of $15.05/hr. Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalency
  • Three (3) years' experience in Public Works/Municipal Construction Inspections
  • Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Attentive to detail
  • Dependability

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in related field
  • Five (5) years' experience in Public Works/Municipal Construction Inspections
  • General office procedures and policies
  • General office equipment and computers
  • Prefers hands-on work

Responsibilities

  • Planning, organizing, supervising, reviewing, and evaluation of the work of the construction contractor
  • Providing technical support
  • Preparing and submitting paperwork
  • Performing field testing and sample collection
  • Checking materials inventory utilized on site
  • Reviewing and approving results
  • Ensuring materials are in accordance with City's Engineering standards, details' specifications, approved plans, and normal construction practices
  • Performing inspection tests to evaluate compliance of work with project requirements
  • Reporting all problems, deviations from plans, unusual conditions
  • Providing technical support to the Public Works and Utilities Departments
  • Reviewing all payment requests
  • Providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed
