About The Position

Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated construction inspector for SCDOT projects in South Carolina. A Mid-Level Construction Inspector will be responsible for providing inspection services for transportation construction projects. They ensure all work and materials used are in compliance with the proposal, plans, and specifications. They may perform required calculations, take measurements, and verify weights and volumes as needed. They will perform materials testing. They will document inspected work daily. This position requires heavy lifting, working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis, and ability to perform work independently. Travel to construction sites throughout the Pee Dee Region / SCDOT District 5 area is an essential function of this position; a valid driver’s license is required. Extended hours and overnight stays may be required. Occasional nighttime work may be required.

Requirements

At least two applicable certifications.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field OR An Associate’s Degree in Construction Management or related field AND two (2) years of relevant experience OR If no degree, at least four (4) years of relevant experience.
SCDOT Earthwork and Asphalt certifications.
Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

SCDOT construction inspection and materials testing certifications.
Working knowledge of SCDOT standards, specifications, and material testing procedure and DOT software for data entry.
Additional SCDOT certifications.
Nuclear Gauge Certifications.
CEPSCI certification.

Responsibilities

Providing inspection services for transportation construction projects.
Ensuring all work and materials used are in compliance with the proposal, plans, and specifications.
Performing required calculations, taking measurements, and verifying weights and volumes as needed.
Performing materials testing.
Documenting inspected work daily.
