About The Position

Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Construction Inspector performs detailed inspections, provides recommendations, completes administrative work, and coordinates inspection activities for Airport Authority building, tenant renovation, maintenance, and other construction projects. The inspector ensures compliance with plans, specifications, building codes, applicable laws and regulations, contract requirements, and safety regulations, while mentoring other inspection staff. The position supports multiple or complex projects within an international airport facility. It involves inspections across disciplines such as concrete, buildings, electrical systems, HVAC systems, and insulation, as well as project documentation, coordination with stakeholders, and technical guidance on construction quality and compliance. The role requires heavy lifting, regular outdoor work in varied conditions, independent work, and travel to construction sites. Extended hours and overnight stays may be required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or directly related experience equal to five years in construction activities related to building inspection.
Experience inspecting a variety of disciplines, which may include concrete, buildings, electrical systems, HVAC systems, and insulation.
Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, visitors, and team members.
Ability to learn and apply applicable local, state, and federal codes, statutes, and guidelines.
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
Ability to work independently.
Valid driver’s license; travel to construction sites is an essential function.
Ability to perform heavy lifting and work outside regularly in a variety of conditions.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of and experience with airport operations and construction.
Experience with concrete preplacement work, including forms, embeds, and reinforcement, and concrete placement.
Five years of experience working as a Quality Inspector.
Certification from a recognized inspection, construction, or quality authority.
Intermediate or expert computer and software skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Windows.
Excellent written and communication skills.
Ability to work well with others, including team members.

Responsibilities

Perform construction inspection services on multiple or complex projects within an international airport facility.
Conduct ongoing construction inspections, quality assurance reviews, and specialty inspections.
Review contractor work, inspect delivered materials, and verify material certifications.
Ensure compliance with approved construction documents, specifications, contract requirements, applicable building codes, and safety regulations.
Record daily observations and document non-compliance issues.
Coordinate and verify field testing of construction materials.
Review and approve contractor pay applications.
Review contractor quality control plans, safety manuals, and procedures.
Perform daily safety inspections and monitor compliance with safety requirements.
Review construction plans, specifications, shop drawings, and contractor submittals for constructability and compliance.
Perform physical inspections of construction activities, including concrete, buildings, electrical systems, HVAC systems, insulation, and related disciplines.
Provide recommendations and technical guidance regarding construction quality and compliance.
Mentor and assist junior construction inspection staff.
Communicate with project stakeholders, including management, clients, contractors, vendors, coworkers, and airport personnel.
Maintain accurate project documentation and inspection records.
Perform other duties as assigned.
