Completes City inspections relating to Public Works infrastructure construction and rehabilitation projects ensuring compliance with plans and specifications. Inspects infrastructure construction, including streets, water lines, and storm and sanitary sewer installations, ensuring compliance with applicable city codes, approved plans, and proper safety standards. Coordinates with contractors, inspects on-site material testing, and oversees asphalt and concrete installation. Prepares reports and issues written orders for corrective action, determining the general progress, workmanship, and character of the construction and rehabilitation work. Inspects the quantity and quality of materials for conformity with established requirements. Works with the public and other City departments to ensure developers contain soil erosion and other debris on their respective properties. Assists contractors and other City staff as needed. Writes, edits, and distributes reports and correspondence, maintaining accurate inspection reports and providing information to contractors and co-workers. Coordinates pre-construction meetings with contractors and assists with plan review as needed. May assist with the evaluation of public infrastructure, snow and ice removal operations, water and sewer main connections/disconnections, water main pressure testing, sewer main and manhole vacuum testing, and sewer main mandrel testing. Attends training and other professional development as needed or required. Performs similar duties for other City departments as assigned.
